This Season
The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s
chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism
and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who
returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge
who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands
to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the
pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her
mysterious new meat pie recipe!

Sophisticated, macabre, visceral and uncompromising, “Sweeney Todd”
nevertheless has a great sense of fun, mixing intense drama with howlingly
funny moments of dark humor: audiences find themselves laughing
hysterically one moment and gasping in surprise the next.

Dear Friends:

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have been put in the unfortunate
position of cancelling our July production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of
Fleet Street. This is an unprecedented decision, as The Theater Company has not
cancelled any production in the past 10 years. The leadership of TTC feels,
however, that due to various concerns, it is better to cancel our July production
rather than present a show that is not neccessarily up to our standards and what
our patrons have come to recognize and respect as a TTC musical.

That being said, please know that it is our full intention to bring Sweeney Todd to
life in the near future, along with the amazing talent we have already cast and
started rehearsing for the show. Even now we are working hard to set the next
season, moving this production to another time slot and possibly another venue.

We thank you for your understanding and continued support as we make this
difficult decision. We hope to bring exciting news to you over the next few weeks
of future productions and possibly even a new home for TTC. Keep in touch with
TTC - we have a lot more to come!

Sincerely,
David Zimmerman
